Oh, London.

How am I gonna be able to write this in any other language? I just can't, to begin with.

After five brief days in London, come back "home" has been way more difficult than ever before. And past times were not easy whatsoever. But this time is different. Because it is London. And I just realised that I am in love with London. London is not as beautiful as Paris, neither as big a New York. However, I love its avenues. I love its streets. I love every single corner of it. I love its multicultural population, the shape of its buildings, the height of its landmarks, the non-stoppingness of its underground. The rain, the mist, the clouds, the many little times the sun can be seen through its limited skyscrapers.  The anonymous faces of its people, the way they are in a hurry all the time, the coffee shops, the book stores, the markets, the museums. I love e v e r y t h i n g.

The place where you were born and the place where you were supposed to be born are rarely the same place. I was born here. I was supposed to be born there. Every step is a step closer to London. It is the city where I want to spend the rest of my life in. I may not be always the same place but travelling all the time. But London is my home. I have never be more sure of that that I am right now.

Tanta gente vive vidas insatisfactorias, y aún así nunca tomarán la iniciativa de cambiar su situación al estar condicionados a una existencia basada en la seguridad, la conformidad y el conservadurismo, lo que puede parecer proporcionar paz mental, pero la realidad es que nada es más dañino para el espíritu aventurero que reside en los hombres que un futuro seguro. El núcleo básico del espíritu de un hombre vivo es su pasión por la naturaleza. El gozo de la vida viene del encuentro con nuevas experiencias y por tanto no hay mayor gozo que poseer un horizonte infinitamente alterable, por el cual tener cada día un nuevo y diferente amanecer.

Siempre he usado este blog para sacar todo lo malo de mí, o casi siempre. Aquellos que aún sigan sabiendo de la existencia de este sitio sabrán que no he estado muy presente últimamente. De hecho el número de entradas ha bajado exponencialmente. Dicen que el arte nace de los peores momentos. Los buenos no atraen la inspiración. Y me alegro de esa falta de inspiración.

Si queréis culpar a alguien de mi falta de inspiración y constancia en este blog, echádsela a ella. Porque, aunque parezca que no, ha pasado un año entero desde que esta aventura empezó. Un año lleno de momentos que jamás olvidaré, un año que ha pasado como si fueran días. Gracias a ti. Y ha habido situaciones en las que, sin ti, sencillamente no habría podido salir adelante. Has sido mi confidente, has visto lo peor de mí, pero sobre todo has visto lo mejor. Y yo, también. Siempre has sabido escucharme en todo momento, apoyarme, aguantarme...incluso cuando probablemente fuera lo último que habrías querido hacer.

No sé si algún día saldaré la deuda que tengo contigo, todas las cosas que tengo que agradecerte, todos los momentos que hemos vivido juntos, y los que están por llegar...

Espero que celebremos este día muchos, muchos años más.

Ojalá fuera una de esas personas que se van a dormir temprano por la noche y se levantan temprano por la mañana. Pero no. Puedo pasarme horas y horas dando vueltas en la cama. E incluso más y más vueltas le doy a mis pensamientos. A veces hasta he conocido un nuevo día sin haber conciliado el sueño. He salido a la terraza a fumar a las seis de la mañana, a ver amanecer, con ese frío tan placentero. He escrito las mejores líneas, he leído los mejores libros, he escuchado las mejores canciones, en horas en las que el resto del mundo dormía. También he sufrido los peores tormentos por la noche, claro. Y he recordado, más vívidamente que nunca, como si estuvieran frente a mí, fantasmas pasados. 

Pero nada me atrae más que la paz de la noche, donde nada importa, donde puedo encontrarme. Donde el silencio reina, donde lo único que escuchas es el maullido de un gato o algún coche deambulando. Donde los cigarros saben mejor.

Ojalá fuera una de esas personas que se van a dormir temprano por la noche y se levantan temprano por la mañana. U ojalá no.

Ser como soy me ha llevado hasta aquí. Y si no ha sido un camino fácil, aún menos satisfactoria ha sido la meta. El periplo de la vida, todas y cada una de las personas y experiencias que conoces, te moldean como ser humano. Pero, en última instancia, tú mismo decides quién eres. Culpar a los demás de tus propios errores y formas de actuar es un comportamiento cobarde. Pero, ¿acaso tiene algo de malo ser cobarde? 

Mi vida es como el Ulises de Joyce; cada capítulo es diferente. Y seré plenamente feliz el día que me levante por la mañana y no tenga una percepción completamente diferente de la realidad. De mi realidad.
